Supporters to rally at courthouse in support of killer dog

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A rally is being held at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning at the Regional Justice Center to support Onion, the family dog that killed a one-year-old boy in Henderson.

A judge is scheduled to decide Onion's fate at 10 a.m. May 11.

Six-year-old Onion, a Mastiff-Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, killed young Jeremiah Eskew-Shahan on his birthday.

The child had crawled over to Onion and was attempting to pull himself up when Onion bit down on the boy's head and shook him.

The dog was declared to be vicious and was ordered to euthanized after a 10-day waiting period.

A judge temporarily halted the execution last week after a national rescue group began lobbying for a reprieve and hired a lawyer.

The Blue Lion Rescue Facility in Colorado has offered to take Onion in and let him live there with minimum contact with human beings.

The rescue group has also been urging people to contact the mayor of Henderson to voice their support of Onion.
