Martinez family member speaks out on double murder
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Arturo Martinez remains hospitalized after being brutally beaten in an attack that left his daughter and wife dead.
Now, his sister Gaudia Martinez is speaking to Action News with an update on Arturo and the family's condition.
Arturo Martinez was found severely beaten inside his home, allegedly by a complete stranger. His wife and 10-year-old daughter Karla were found murdered.
Arturo's 9-year-old son Michael reported the crime, telling teachers the next day that his mother and sister were dead inside his home.
"He seems to be okay, but we know he's not," says Gaudia about Michael. "The only thing we know is that we have to keep on going, so we can support Arturo and the kids."
Bryan Clay, 22, is charged with murdering and raping Yadira Martinez and 10-year-old Karla Martinez. Clay is also accused of beating and injuring Arturo Martinez using a claw hammer.
Clay is also accused of attacking and trying to rape another woman on the same day of his alleged murder spree.
On May 2, Clay pleaded not guilty the aforementioned crimes.
However, one day earlier, Clay pleaded guilty to unrelated charges of attacking and sexually assaulting an ex-girlfriend.
Gaudia says her brother Arturo, doesn't know exactly what happened but knows "Karla and Yadi are not in this world anymore."
"He opened his eyes, but he cannot really talk or write at all," says Gaudia.
