Plenty of options to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this weekend

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Cinco de Mayo is a celebration held on May 5 as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride and to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War.

Several events are being planned around the valley to recognize the day.

Cinco de Mayo Weekend, Bally's Las Vegas
Bally's will host an outdoor fiesta featuring an outdoor beach area, drink specials, Mexican fare, and live entertainment from DJs, the Mariachi Jalisco Group, Wonderboogie and Synergy. Hours are 10 a.m. to mightnight May 4; 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. May 5; and 10 a.m. to midnight May 6.

Border Grill, Mandalay Bay
Border Grill will celebrate Cinco de Mayo May 4-6. Drink specials include $5 Patron margaritas; $25 Patron Grande Cadillac Margaritas; a $29 bucket of Corona and Patron; and $5 Coronas and Corona Lights. There will be giveaways every hour. Receive a raffle ticket for every drink purchased. Party will take place from nooon to 8 p.m.

Cabo Wabo, Planet Hollywood
$15 pitchers and $25 buckets of beer. Plenty of Mexican food. Party starts at 11 a.m.

Carlos' n Charlie's, Flamingo Las Vegas
Carlos' n Charlie's first Cinco de Mayo will take place on their outdoor patio. The party will feature flair bartenders, dancing waiters and live entertainment. Drink specials include $30 buckets of domestic beer; $35 buckets of import beer, and $38 Bazooka beer towers. There will also be Mexican cantina-style cuisine and margaritas. The doors open at 11 a.m.

Cinco de Mayo Mariachi Concert, Clark County Library
The Clark County Library will host a Cinco de Mayo Mariachi Concert at 7 p.m. May 4. Performers from Clark County School District featured.

Coconuts Beach Bar & Mexican Grill, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Cinco de Mayo festivities will include a burrito eating challenge at 3 p.m. May 5; sombrero throwing contest at 4:30; grandma's guacamole-making contest at 5; worm eating contest at 7:30; taco eating contest at 9; and the Miss Cinco De Mayo contest at 10. There will be food and drink specials from noon to 8 p.m. Drink specials include $3 Coronas, shots of tequila and frozen house margaritas. Food specials include $5 taquitos, regular nachos and fiesta tacos.

El Cortez
Cinco de Mayo specials include $3 Patron margaritas and complimentary chips and salsa from noon to midnight on May 5.

El Segundo Sol, Fashion Show Mall
All-day "Loco Hour" with $3 shots, $5 margaritas, a DJ and a live band.

Hussong's Cantina & Taqueria

$5 shots and $3 draft beers. There will also be beer pong and foosball competitions with a variety of prizes. The party starts early on May 3 and lasts all weekend.

Laugh Factory, Tropicana Las Vegas
The Laugh Factory will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a lineup featuring the hottest Hispanic comedians in the business. Alex Ortiz, Rene Garcia and Aida Rodriguez will be taking the stage April 30 - May 6.

PBR, Miracle Mile Shops, Planet Hollywood
$5 small plates all day long, 2-for-1 well drinks and $3 draft beers.

Cinco de Mayo Plaza Fiesta, The Plaza
Drink specials May 4-5 include $3 bottles of beer, $10 bucket of beer, $2 Cuervo shots, a free tequila popper chair from 4 to 10 p.m. plus a traveling mariachi and midgets, and a prize package from Dos Equis at 8:30 p.m.

Revolver, Santa Fe
Cinco de Drinko at Revolver nightclub at the Santa Fe will feature a variety of drink specials and 5 cash giveaways of $500 each.

Rhumbar, The Mirage
All-day party on the patio featuring hookahs, DJs, drink specials and more. Hookahs are $30 and an unlimited drink refill option is available for $65

Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub
Drinks start at $6 and will be going down by $1 every hour until they are free

Ri Ra Irish Pub, Mandalay Place
Ri Ra Irish Pub will feature food and drink specials for Cinco de Mayo including beer battered fish tacos, corned beef quesadillas, Irish-style nachos and chicken curry burritos. Drink specials include $4.50 Pura Vida Tequila cocktails.

Senor Frog's Restaurant, Bar & Clothesline, Treasure Island
Senor Frog's will kick off its grand opening celebration with a Cinco de Mayo party featuring their house band at 11 a.m. May 5. At 9 p.m., Senor Frogs will attempt to set a record for the world's largest tequila toast.

Lorena Peril from "Fantasy" will host a Cinco de Mayo party at Tacos & Tequila. DJ Larry Lynx will also spin. The party take place from 8 to 11 p.m. There will also be a Mariachi Brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a high-energy Mariachi band and 2-for-1 house margaritas and Bloody Marias. Other drink specials for Cinco de Mayo include $18 bucket of Sols;dix tacos and six beers for $29; and six tequila shots, six beers and six tacos for $59.

Cinco de Mayo Pub Crawl, The Cannery

Enjoy $1 drinks at various bars at The Cannery on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. Start at Vino's at 3; Casa Bar at 4; Pin Ups at 5; and Booze & Bets at 6.

Cinco de Mayo Weekend, LVH
The Cinco de Mayo celebration will take place May 4-6 at LVH. There will be half-priced appetizers, Coronas, margaritas and tequilas in Vince Neil's Tres Rios Cantina from 2 to 5 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m. each day. At the Cool by the Pool Happy Hour, guests can enjoy free DJ entertainment, $3 ceviche, and half-priced Coronas and margaritas from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  On Friday, May 4, the party continues poolside with a free poolside concert until 10 p.m.  Free nightclub entertainment and half-priced Modelo beers will be available at The Oasis (located in SpaceQuest Casino) from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.  On Sunday, The Oasis will be serving $2 Coronas and house margaritas from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.  Shimmer Cabaret will have live music performed by The Edge from 10 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, along with half-priced Coronas and margaritas.

On Saturday, May 5, the LVH hosts Lee’s 6th Annual Beer & Tequila Experience in the Paradise Event Center from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m.  Tickets to the event can be purchased in advance at Lee’s Discount Liquor for $50 or for $60 at the door.  And on Sunday, May 6, the party continues with Univision Radio’s Cinco De Mayo Fiesta and Concert in the Paradise Event Center from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. The event will feature several live Latin bands, great Mexican food, margaritas, games and fiesta activities for a $10 admission at the door.

Cinco de Mayo Celelbration, M Resort
98.5 KLUV, X107.5 and M Resort will present a Cinco de Mayo celebration party beginning at 6 p.m. May 5 inside the M Pavilion. The party will feature entertainment including Mexico Vivo Dance Company anbd Toto Zara. There will drink specials plus south of the border and other dining selections in a food truck court along with a gaming party pit.

Radio personalities will be on hand to host the festivities.

Cinco de Drinko, The Palms
The Cinco de Drinko weekend will feature Flo Rida on Friday; Roger Sanchez on Saturday; and the Diddy Fight Afterparty in Rain Nightclub on Saturday. Drink specials.

Cinco de Mayo, Suncoast
The Suncoast will host a Cinco de Mayo party from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Marquee parking lot. There will be live music, a beer and margarita garden, food trucks, paint ball, King Putt, a rock wall and more.

Cinco de Mayo, Stratosphere
The Stratosphere will feature $3 shots of Sauza Tequila, $2 margaritas and $3 Corona on May 4 at the Race and Sportsbook, Level 8 Pool, C Bar and Images Lounge.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration, Boulevard Mall
The celebration will feature live music, dancers, mariachi, food and drink vendors, face painting, games and more. Sponsored by the Mexican Patriotic Committee. The party will begin at 4 p.m. May 5.

3rd annual Cinco de Mayo Street Festival & Carnival
The three day event will feature live entertainment by Castano at 7 p.m. May 5 and the Rockouts at 9 p.m. May 5. Mariachis at 7 and 8 p.m. May 5. DJ Draztek at 7 p.m. May 4.

Food and drink specials. 5 p.m. to midnight May 4; 11 a.m. to midnight May 5; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 6. 7585 Norman Rockwell Lane (near Farm Road and Durango Drive across from Albertsons). Presented by Viva Mexico.

Freako de Mayo, downtown Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Jam Band Society and Orange County Jam Band Society will present Freako De Mayo this weekend in downtown Las Vegas. The lineup includes Spafford at 9:30 p.m. and Quactas at 12:30 a.m. May 4 at Las Vegas County Saloon. The lineup on May 5 at the Canyon Club at the Four Queens includes Cubensis at 9:30 p.m. and Moksha at 1 a.m. Tickets are $20 on Friday and $30 on Saturday. Weekend passes for $40 in advance. www.lvjbs.org.

The Las Vegas Jam Band Society exists to help create a more supportive music community in southern Nevada for the musicians of the Jam Band genre. The goal is to educate ourselves and the community through grass roots promotions and concert events.

Folkloric dances,Winchester Cultural Center
Ballet Folklorica Xyachimal will perform May 5 at Winchester Cultural Center. The program will feature folkloric dances from several Mexican states. $6 general admission.



DUI Checkpoint

Don't forget that Las Vegas Metropolitan Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the area of Charleston Boulevard and Arlington Street from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. May 5.
