Accused lip-biting attacker apologizes in jailhouse interview

CREATED May. 2, 2012

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A man is behind bars in a bizarre case, accused of biting off the lips of two women, and now has an apology to offer his victims.

Roberto Flores admitted to the brutal acts in a jailhouse interview with Action News reporter Blake McCoy.

In part two of the interview, Flores says there's an explanation, and offers an apology to his victims.

"I'm a good person," Flores said. "I want people to know me. I don't want people to look at me and go 'oh, he's not a good man.'"

Flores served jail time for domestic violence after savagely biting off the lower lip of his ex-wife Perla in 2007, only to get out of jail and do it again to his new girlfriend, Victoria Silva.

"I was thinking I was going to die," Silva told Action News in an earlier interview. "He was trying to kill me."

We asked Flores what prompted him to do it again a second time.

"Honestly, I don't have the answer for that," he said. "You have to be in my situation."

Flores described his addition to alcohol and cocaine, and his childhood experiences with domestic violence against him and his mother.

"All the violence, everything that happened, that's what I'm reliving in my life," Flores said. "In my mind, I think I'm my stepdad."

He is pleading for mercy now and says jail will do him no good, and that professional help is what he really needs.

As for his victims, they've been scarred by his love physically and emotionally. Flores says he'd say sorry if he had the chance.

"I would apologize from my heart. Even though it wouldn't do anything- it wouldn't bring back their lips, but I'm still human. We all make mistakes. I'm a good person in my heart."
