Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It's out with the old and in with the new on the north end of the Strip.

A real estate development company took the first steps on Tuesday toward redeveloping the Sahara and converting it to an all-new state-of-the-art resort.

The SBE Corporation outlined plans to redevelop the old Sahara Hotel and Casino into the "SLS Las Vegas."

Right now, they have $300 million in funding towards the project.

The new SLS Hotel will house 1600 boutique-style rooms, three night clubs, 12 restaurants and 60,000 square feet of casino space.

SLS President and COO Rob Oseland is no stranger to opening Strip properties. He helped open and market the Wynn, Encore and Bellagio and is excited to help bring more jobs to the Valley with his new project.

When it's all said and done the new SLS Hotel will account for nearly 1,000 construction jobs and 2500 workers for the hotel and casino.
