UPDATE (8:22pm): Las Vegas Metropolitan Police will be holding a news conference Friday at 9pm to discuss developments in this story.
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas Metro Police Department says no arrests have been made in the murder of a mother and daughter last week, despite earlier reports from the Review-Journal.
"Despite reports about an arrest being made in the double homicide occuring April 16 on Robin Street, no arrests have been made at this time," a spokesperson for the police department said.
The Review-Journal reported that a 22-year-old man was arrested on Friday morning in connection with the double murder following DNA testing.
Friday's reports are the latest in a horrific case that began when a boy went to school last Monday and told administrators at Hoggard Elementary that his mom and sister were dead at home.
Police then rushed to the home on Robin Street, near Washington and Rancho, where Ignacia "Yadira" Martinez and her daughter, Karla, were found dead. A man was found critically injured and police said a 4-year-old inside the house was unharmed.
The neighborhood is on edge as the home remains an active crime scene several days following the discovery.
The Clark County Coroner's Office determined 38-year-old Yadira died of blunt force head injuries from assault. 10-year-old Karla died of multiple blunt force injuries. Police later said the 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted before being killed in the attack.
