Police: 2 attacks on local women may be connected

By Molly Waldron. CREATED Apr 26, 2012

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police are asking for help from the public to find a man who investigators believe violently attacked two women in separate incidences.

Investigators say a woman was walking in the area of Tonopah Drive and Vegas Drive in the early-morning hours of April 15 when she was attacked and sexually assaulted in a nearby desert area.

Police found a Cleveland Indians baseball cap at the scene and believe it to be the attacker's.

On April 23, police say a second woman was walking near Bonanza Road and Rancho Drive (near the scene of the first crime) when she was hit in the head with a large object. She was able to escape.

Both victims described the attacker as a black man in his late teens or early twenties, standing about 5-feet 5-inches to 5-feet 8-inches with a thin to medium build.

Investigators say the matching descriptions, along with the similarities between the two attacks, leads them to believe they may be connected.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
