ARTchitecture event at Las Vegas Design Center
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The ASID/IIDA Student Chapter at UNLV and the UNLV School of Architecture will host its first ARTchitecture event at Las Vegas Design Center on Thursday, April 26.
Program director Attila Lawrence and student Karen Licea and Jesse Meikle appeared on Action News at Midday on April 25 to talk about the event.
The event features a collection of fashion, photography and art-centric designs created by UNLV interior design, landscape and architecture students. Students worked with instructors who provided guidance and support throughout the design process.
All of the showcased designs will be displayed on mannequins, are inspired from Las Vegas architecture and are constructed from design surface materials such as tile, wallpaper and textiles donated by local vendors. The designs will be auctioned at the conclusion of the event with all proceeds benefitting a scholarship fund for incoming Las Vegas high school students attending the UNLV School of Architecture. A silent auction featuring home furnishings pieces, restaurant packages and other great items will also benefit the fund.
Prior to the April 26 event, each design will be on public display from April 12 through April 23 at Las Vegas Design Center and Tivoli Village. A storyboard explaining the design inspiration is part of each display.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be held in the atrium of Building A at LVDC on the World Market Center campus from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on April 26. For additional information and to RSVP, please visit lvdesigncenter.com/events.
