Metro tells tow companies to "play by the rules" at First Fridays

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Metro met with local towing companies to avoid a repeat of recent towing confusions associated with First Fridays, a monthly event at the Dowtown Art District. 

"Basically, we wanted to prevent what happened last month where some vehicles were towed and then again what happened in the latter part of 2011 when some vehicles were towed," says Officer Bill Cassell, Public Information Officer for Metro. "We wanted the tow companies to know what the rules were. They have to play by the rules, just like the citizens do, and we put them on notice that we expect them to do just that."

Tomorrow's First Friday event in the Downtown Art District has a special theme: Go Green. You can avoid paying green from your wallet on an unnecessary parking tickets or tows, by paying attention to posted signs or by utilizing new accomodations.

"The City of Las Vegas has opened up their parking garage for this Friday's event as well as Clark County. And, the First Friday folks are running a shuttle between the county garage and the First Friday Event," explains Officer Cassell.

"Shuttles run from 5:30pm-12:30am: Open Top Sightseeing is providing shuttle service with two routes: Fremont Route: 4 Stops- :Get Back Alley First Friday entrance on the corner of 6th and Fremont- :Plaza Hotel on Main Street in front of the main entrance- :Golden Nugget, lobby doors just north of Rush Tower Valet- :Event at Colorado and Main Street: Government Center Route: 2 Stops- :Government Center Parking Lot at the entrance to Rotunda Gallery- :Commerce Art Galleries on Commerce- :Event at Colorado and Main Street. Bell Trans is the supporting shuttle for entire route and for handicap accessibility. All shuttle stops have a sign indicating where they are picking up at each location and have a map of the route on the shuttle bus"
