Las Vegas rallies in support of Trayvon Martin
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas joined cities across the country rallying in support of Trayvon Martin's family.
About 100 people from across the valley showed up to the Downtown Arts District for the Las Vegas Hoodie Gathering for Trayvon Martin, many of them wearing that now iconic piece of clothing.
Martin supporters created signs calling for the arrest of the gunman, George Zimmerman.
Even though the shooting took place thousands of miles away, for many Las Vegans that fatal bullet struck too close to home.
“Although this didn't happen here in Nevada, it is a wakeup call to make sure that we take a long hard look at the laws we have in place, and make sure something like this can't and doesn't happen here,” said one participant.
"Your attire shouldn't determine whether or not you live or die," said Rachelle Luster, event organizer.
