Drive to recall North Las Vegas mayor ends
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) -- Leaders of a drive to recall North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck say they're abandoning the effort because of a lack of signatures.
The Las Vegas Sun reports organizers are well short of the 2,466-signature requirement for their petition as Monday's deadline approaches.
Organizer Bob Borgersen says while he would be lucky to come up with 400 signatures, he believes the effort may bring change.
James Olive, vice chairman of the city's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and city residents Scott Sauer and Cherlynn Thomas on Sept. 6 filed a notice of intent to recall Buck.
They cited the mayor's decision to close city recreation centers and accused her of wasteful spending.
But Olive says he ended his support of the recall after the council kept the recreation centers open.
