Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Las Vegas is getting ready to finish the year strong in tourism by bringing in more than 100,000 visitors this weekend, thanks to some big-name events.
The National Finals Rodeo starts up Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Nascar is making a week long celebration of it's Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony at the Wynn.
And on Sunday night, thousands of people will run down the strip in the Zappos.com Rock 'N Roll Las Vegas Marathon.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority expects these events to bring in more than $90 million to our local economy. With hotel occupancy up 4 percent, and room rates up 11 percent, this means more money coming to the state.
"Vegas in December has really turned into a special events month, culminating, of course, at the end of the month with New Year's Eve, America's Party," Vince Alberta from the LVCVA said.
The LVCVA says they're planning on hosting 39 million or more visitors this year. That's only the second time this many people have come to Las Vegas in one year.
