CREATED Sep. 20, 2011

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A Nevada man who took his 12-year-old to see racing pilots is among the 10 people who died in the nation's deadliest air racing disaster.

Virginia Craik told The Associated Press Tuesday that her son, 45-year-old John Craik of Gardnerville, died from injuries after a fighter plane crashed into a crowd of fans.

Stunt pilot James Leeward also died in the Friday afternoon plane crash. He was 74 years old and was flying a WWII-era fighter plane.

Virginia Craik says her grandson was with his dad when the plane crashed. Family members say the boy was not seriously injured and is back in school.

At least two of those killed have not yet been identified. Emergency officials are trying to compile a list of missing persons.
