Several events make big weekend for Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV)- The Mayweather vs. Ortiz fight is just one reason for a busy weekend here in town. Thousands have descended on Las Vegas for a multitude of events. Another big event is the Pride Festival at the Clark County Government Center, and that's not the only thing that has people having a good time this weekend.
Earlier Saturday morning people hung out at the First Fiesta Las Vegas Latino Parade. Others came in for the Olympia Weekend, and several casinos on the strip catered to those coming in for Mexican Independence Day weekend. That included Latino performers, musicians, and festivals, and of course tasty foods. Here's what one chef said about his change in menu for the weekend and the lines of people waiting to try his food.
"We just wanted to try something. Just try something new. That's what the Cosmopolitan is all about. Being New, and being different," says Chef Bradley Manchester of the Wicked Spoon restaurant.
This of course is all really good for our economy because it has people spending money. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority does not record numbers for this weekend, but if the diversity of events continues in the following years, and people keep coming, this might turn into a weekend they'll have to start looking at more closely.
