Thomas Rhett, a co-writer of Florida Georgia Line's No. 1 hit, "Round Here," passed on recording the song for his own album, but on the day the song's success was recognized with a party in Nashville, Thomas doubled up on celebrating!
The singer-songwriter says of "Round Here," "I was kind of a different artist then, a different songwriter, different performer. When Brian (Kelley) and Tyler (Hubbard) called and said, 'We want to cut 'Round Here' and put it out as a single, I was like, 'that's awesome.' I was just proud to be a part of the tsunami that they've started in this business."
Thomas was also celebrating the success of his third single, the title track of his debut album. But he can't take credit for the tune. That honor goes to three songwriters, including his dad, country hitmaker Rhett Akins, who penned the song with Ben Hayslip and Jimmy Robbins.
Thomas' current single, "Get Me Some of That" is now climbing the charts.
