CMA Awards 2013 Music Video of the Year nominees

Natural disasters were on the minds of country artists in 2013, as evidenced by two of the nominated clips for CMA Music Video of the Year. Whether Little Big Town's "Tornado" and Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" were influenced by "The Wizard of Oz" or "Sharknado" (OK, maybe not), they both stirred up some unforgettable images. As for Miranda Lambert, she's a force of nature all her own, as evidenced in her crazy-good (special emphasis on "crazy") "Mama's Broken Heart." Elsewhere, party time was on the minds of Blake Shelton, Pistol Annies and friends ("Boys 'Round Here") and Lady Antebellum ("Downtown"), whether it was on the front porch or city streets. But perhaps the most indelible message delivered via video this past year was the cautionary tale in Tim McGraw's "Highway Don't Care." The point would have been well made even with just his star-power behind it, but adding Taylor Swift and Keith Urban to the mix sure didn't hurt. We predict: Star power and safer drivers aside, "Highway Don't Care" packs an emotional wallop. And Tim scrubs up nicely.
