13 Things To Do This Weekend

  • First Friday is here! Visit Downtown Las Vegas this Friday for you chance to be a part of the growing culture here in the Valley. Enjoy the food, the Arts District and mingling with the community. Event begins at 5PM and is FREE to the public.

  • Jack and Terry Mannion Middle School is preparing their students for the future this holiday season. The school will host the 9th annual career fair this Friday from 8 to 11:30AM. Each grade level will spend an hour at the fair meeting with vendors across the professional realm -- hoping to connect students with the right people for their future careers.

  • The Cosmopolitan Boulevard Pool is transformed into an ice rink this holiday season.  Enjoy the winter wonderland from four floors about the strip.  This event is a great local holiday spot on the Las Vegas Strip.  All-day access for local is only $10.  You can visit the rink now through January 20.  

  • The Springs Preserve is hosting its Holiday Spectacular all weekend long. Take the kids out to enjoy the winter wonderland this Saturday and SUnday from 5pm - 9pm. Enjoy the thousands of lights on display and take a ton of photos!

  • It's always exciting when celebrities host meet and greets in the community. This Saturday from 11:30AM - 2:30PM, boxing champion, Roy Jones Jr. and five-time National Basketball Association champ, "Earvin" Magic Johnson will visit the TRISTAR, sports memorabilia store to sign autographs and mingle with the community. TRISTAR is located at the Miracel Miles Shops at Planet Hollywood. Get on out and enjoy the fun with all things sports this weekend!

  • This Saturday and Sunday, and every weekend between now and December 24, Santa Jaws and Kris Kringle will make a special "shipwrecked" appearance. Kids who enter the Mandalay Bay Aquarium Shipwreck Exhibit will have a chance to pose with Santa and even get to know "Santa Jaws!" This is an exhibit fit for ocean-life and holiday lovers. $18 for adults and $12 for kids. NV residents do receive a discount!

  • Have you toured a fire station lately? Join Station 26 this Saturday, near Flamingo Rd. and Durango Dr., from 12PM - 3PM. This open house coincides with the "Fill the Fire Truck" holiday toy drive. Visitors at the open house can drop off an unwrapped toy or gift card in a box at Station 26. If you forget the toy, don't worry -- you can drop off at any Clark County Fire Station through December 16. Local agencies, churches and charities will benefit from your donations!

  • Stop by the Charleston Heights Arts Center to see Rainbow Company present "HONK!" - this is a story of one character named Ugly, who's awkward and odd looks provoke prejudice on the farm... but in the end finds acceptance and love along his journey. This is a musical sure to make you smile this holiday season. The musical will run all December long. Get your tickets today.

  • Submit your letters today and help Walker Furniture deliver 28 housefuls of brand new furniture to people in need. This is all part of the 19th annual Home for the Holidays program. This program relies on locals to submit letters nominating a family in need. You explain why you think this family you have in mind is the most deserving. A panel of judges will sort through the letters and find the most deserving families in our community who need the furniture the most. Have a family in mind?
