Megan Telles is a Social TV Journalist passionate about marrying social media + TV news (and her high school sweetheart next October!)
She joined the Action News Team in August 2012 as Social Media Producer. After a few months filling in on Good Morning Las Vegasand live appearances on Vegas Morning Blend, Megan landed the reporter gig on Action News Live @ 3. Whether it's breaking, local, national or trending news, Megan invites viewers to weigh in on the conversation via Facebook and Twitter.
While Megan enjoys storytelling, she's never strayed away from the Digital Unit at KTNV. As Social Media Producer, Megan helps cultivate the social strategy for KTNV's presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more. Her mission is to listen to what viewers are saying on social media then integrate their thoughts, feelings, opinions into her on-air work.
Megan is also the producer/host of the weekly "13 Things To Do This Weekend" segment covering Southern Nevada's evolving culture, arts district and community.
Before landing in Las Vegas, Megan covered and produced stories for MTVu, UWire.com and The San Diego Union-Tribune. She reported from City Hall during the 2011 Occupy Los Angeles movement and accounted the autopsy results of late music legend, Michael Jackson.
She's a Southern California native from Rancho Cucamonga. Megan is a proud third-generation Mexican-American and active in the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), Nevada Chapter. Megan is the daughter of an Army Veteran and was raised around the world as a U.S. "Army Brat." Growing up in a military household became a way of life for Megan. Spontaneity, manners and a militant work ethic shaped her core values at an early age.
Megan graduated from USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (Fight On!). She was a three-time KABC-TV intern in Los Angeles and spent a semester at the KCBS/KCAL duopoly in Studio City, CA. Megan worked closely with KABC's entertainment guru, George Pennacchio covering season 10 of Dancing With The Stars and the 82nd Oscars. After graduating, Megan was the Executive Assistant to long-time LA news anchor, Laura Diaz. While Diaz taught Megan the ethics of Journalism, Megan propelled Diaz into the world of social media, introducing her to Facebook, Twitter and all things digital.
When not telling a story, engaging on social media or indulging at a new Las Vegas restaurant, Megan is making memories with her tight-knit family and fiance, Cesar.
