Denise Wong joined the Action News Team in April 2013. You can watch her live reports on weekday mornings during Good Morning Las Vegas.
Denise moved to Las Vegas from Reno where she reported for KOLO. It was there she covered breaking news stories that gained national attention, including the deadly Amtrak crash and the devastating Caughlin Fire. She was also one of the first live reporters on scene after the shooting massacre in Carson City, when a gunman suddenly opened fire inside the IHOP in September 2011. Before she moved to Nevada, Denise reported for WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida, where she specialized in covering local government. She has also served as a Washington, D.C.-based political correspondent for WENY in Elmira, New York.
Prior to reporting, Denise worked for several years as an evening news producer. She got her start at KMTR in Eugene, Oregon before joining KRON in San Francisco. She also spent four years in Portland, Oregon where she produced award-winning newscasts at KATU.
Denise graduated from UCLA, where she majored in both Communication Studies and Psychology. She holds a master’s degree in Journalism from Boston University.
Born and raised in Northern California, she loves to spend time under the sun, in the water, and on the slopes. She also likes to cheer on the Lakers and pretends she knows more about the NBA than she actually does.
