Pop princess Selena Gomez has scrapped plans to tour Asia and Australia, "using an excuse rarely heard at the top level: she needs some 'me' time," Billboard reports.
Last month, Gomez announced plans for her international "Stars Dance" tour to head to Australia and Asia in the New Year, including dates in Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. She was scheduled to play 13 shows in the region beginning in mid-January. A five-city run in Australia, which would have been her first tour of the country, was to start Feb. 1. But on Dec. 20, Gomez announced that the entire run of dates had been cancelled.
“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” the 21-year-old singer/actress said in a statement. “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me.”
