In today’s requisite “Justin Bieber gets into trouble” story, the Canadian pop singer’s private plane was detained on the tarmac in New Jersey and searched after authorities said they smelled pot. Bieber reportedly chartered the plane and flew from Toronto to New Jersey to attend the Super Bowl festivities this weekend.
According to ABC News
, Bieber’s plane “was stopped and held at Teterboro Airport” Friday just before 3 p.m. Inspectors with Customs and Border Protection thought they smelled marijuana.
“A source said the singer left the plane and was taken to the customs terminal at the airport, which serves private aviation and is packed with planes coming in for the big game,” reports ABC News. “Bieber is being interviewed and the plane may be turned around.”
subsequently reported that all passengers, including Bieber and his father, have since been released and no drugs were found.
While in Toronto, he’d turned himself in on charges of assaulting a limo driver late last year. More recently he was arrested in Miami for street racing and driving under the influence. Earlier in January, his Los Angeles home was search after a neighbor reported the singer egged his house.
