Pop star Justin Bieber and his lawyers have negotiated a plea deal in the case that resulted from being busted for illegal street racing in Miami earlier this year.
Bieber was charged with three misdemeanors after he was caught tearing down the street of a residential neighborhood in a yellow Lamborghini on Jan. 23. He was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and resisting an officer without violence.
According to the Miami Herald, the state of Florida has agreed to drop the DUI charge in exchange for guilty pleas on the other two charges.
As part of the deal, the hotheaded 20-year-old singer will have to take anger management classes, make a $50,000 charitable donation, pay court fines, and watch videos about real-life, tragic DUI cases.
Bieber was racing his buddy, R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff, after partying at a Miami Beach nightclub. When the cops arrived to put a stop of the street racing, Bieber initially refused to get out of his car and unleashed a barrage of f-words. Authorities say he later admitted to smoking marijuana and taking prescription medicine and he tested positive for both. He had also been drinking, but his blood-alcohol level was well below the legal limit.
The Miami Herald says that Sharieff will get a similar deal.
Bieber pleaded no contest to charges last month of egging and vandalizing his former neighbor's house. He was given probation and ordered to pay $80,900 in restitution to the neighbor. He has since moved to a building in Beverly Hills and his neighbors there have complained about his loud parties and traffic in and out of the building.
Bieber most recently made headlines for a spat with actor Orlando Bloom in Spain.
Bieber was not expected to show up in court Wednesday. His lawyers will appear on his behalf.
