Carjacking thwarted when bystanders intervene

By Phyllis Stark. CREATED Jul 16, 2014

A California man faced swift justice from bystanders after he allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle with  woman and a child inside. The incident happened in San Diego, where 20-year-old Ismael Hernandez hit a pole after reportedly hijacking a minivan. That’s when a group of men pulled him out of the van and beat his up, then restrained him until police arrived.

It’s all caught on video (watch part of it it above), where the child in the carjacked vehicle can be heard crying at the beginning.

While police are trying to arrest him, Hernandez continues struggle and two of the bystanders again step in and help hold him down until he is handcuffed.

The suspect has been charged with attempted carjacking, attempted kidnapping, and attempted auto theft, according to My Fox Tampa Bay.
