Omaha South Ends Creighton Prep's Reign In Class A

CREATED May. 13, 2013

Omaha, NE - The largest soccer crowd in this history of the state of Nebraska witnessed a certified classic in the Class A State Championship.  Both Creighton Prep and Omaha South were trying to secure a historical end to their respective years.  Prep was trying to become the first boys' team in the history of the state to win three straight titles.  Omaha South was trying to finish off an undefeated season and win the first title for their school since 1990.

Both teams missed opportunities throughout the game, and both goalies saved some great shots.  The game was tied at zero with about five and half minutes left.  That's when Omaha South's Jose Marquez ripped a shot past the keeper for the first goal of the match.  The Packers took a 1-0 lead, and they held on for the victory.
