Jones And Echenique Play Big RolesPhoto: Video by kmtv.com
Omaha, NE - The Bluejays have won their first two games rather handily against really solid competition. But Wednesday night's battle with Alabama-Birmingham was anything but easy. The Jays trailed by double-digits in the second half, and Doug McDermott struggled with foul trouble and finding his rhythm.
Josh Jones took advantage of this opportunity to take over the game. He went on a ten-point scoring spree to close the gap, and he ended up leading the Bluejays in scoring with 18 points. Gregory Echenique also played a big role. Echenique racked up 13 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the win.
After the game both Jones and Echenique talked about the importance of the Jays team concept, and why they are more than just a one man team.
