Sarpy County, NE - Take a drive along Edgewood Boulevard in La Vista and you'll find car after car, shattered. Thursday morning, police and sheriff deputies took vandalism reports for an estimated 33 cars. Police believe seven cars were hit in La Vista, an additional twenty cars were vandalized in Papillion, and six cars had windows shot out further south in the county.
Neighbors say it's obvious the crooks used a BB-gun to shoot out the windows. Victims believe the crimes happened sometime between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. It appears the victims were chosen at random, most of the cars were parked on the street overnight.
Police are still investigating who is responsible for the crime; they have not believed all the vandalism is related. It doesn't appear anything was taken from the cars.
Police say if caught, the vandals could face multiple misdemeanors or felonies. If those responsible are students, police are confident they'll be caught as they plan on working with school resource officers.
If you have any information as to who is responsible call La Vista or Papillion police or crime stoppers.
