Omaha, NE - Standing in the spot where she had been critically shot, those closest to Valencia Hogan are keeping her memory alive.
"I gotta go on, I can't give up. She wouldn't want that."
It's been one year and not a single day goes by without questions surrounding her death.
"Nobody can really rest because it's like everyday you gotta worry. I wonder what happened. You think about it 100 times a day."
Last August Hogan and her boyfriend stopped at a friend's house near 16th and Willis. While they stood outside, someone shot her. Valencia died days later at a hospital. Her killer still hasn't been caught.
"I want to make sure that this person can't harm another family that another mother can't feel like me by the same hands."
While family and friends released balloons of her favorite color into the sky, the Hogans plead for answers.
"Everybody gotta stop being afraid of telling, coming forward with information that they know, hiding, break the cycle!!
For justice and for Valencia.
"We love you Valencia we love you with all our kind in hearts, we want you to wake up cause we want to play with you."
