The cold temps didn't stop some shoppers from flocking to Gretna. Many braved the cold and got up early for the same reason.
"To get some sales and get me a purse,” said shopper Ethel Griffin of Omaha.
The line outside the Coach store was a clear indicator that women were ready to shop.
"Look at the coach line, Oh my god!” exclaimed Griffin.
Matt Schommer from Papillion was one of the first in line at the Coach store, but he had an alibi for his primo spot.
“Cause I got dragged here with my girlfriend and Nike is right across the way,” said Matt Schommer of Papillion.
The newly opened luxury outlet center not only introduces local residents to deals and top brands, but it also means more jobs and more options for people in the area.
“Job opportunities for everybody in Ashland, for everybody in Gretna. Everybody that is kinda out here a little further in the suburb areas, they have opportunity to work, they have opportunity to shop. It's great for the community! This is going to be huge, this is going to let people know that Ashland and Gretna is here,” said an Ashland resident.
And for Ashland resident Celina Elliott and others like her, the new outlet mall not only saves on goods, but saves on gas too.
“No more driving, saving gas, just graduated high school, getting ready to be a college student so don't have that much money and this being an outlet, it's savings and I’m just really excited,” said shopper Celina Elliott of Ashland.
