Omaha, NE - A suspect is in custody for the murder of 43-year-old Trudie McKee.
McKee's body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in an apartment at 98th and Park Dr. near Q St.
Early Wednesday morning 32-year-old Robert Grant was picked up by police and booked at the Douglas County Corrections for criminal homicide.
Police are trying to figure out more about Robert Grant. Before this morning’s arrest Grant barely had a criminal history here in the metro and his last known address was at the Sienna Francis Home.
Around 3:3O Tuesday afternoon officers were called to investigate a homicide at an apartment near 98th and Park Dr.
Trudie McKee’s body was discovered by her teenage daughter after she had arrived home from school.
Within 12 hours police had 32-year-old Robert Grant in custody.
A neighbor who wanted to protect his identity and lives above McKee’s apartment, said that another neighbor who lives on the same floor as McKee heard an intense argument coming from McKee’s apartment in the late morning hours.
The neighbor we talked to did not hear the argument, but unfortunately heard the daughter when she discovered her mother’s body.
“I heard some terrible screaming and crying and after talking to people I believe that was the little girl that came home and found her mother. I’ve lived here for going on my second year now and it’s always been a peaceful place,” said the neighbor.
Police have not yet said how McKee and Grant knew each other.
