Plattsmouth, NE-It never gets easy, says Nathan Houfek's aunt, Kathy Bellinghiere told KMTV Sunday night.
On July 19th, officials say a semi-trailer crested a hill on Highway 75, South of Plattsmouth slamming into a line of cars stopped for construction. 13 year Nathan died from his injuries.
Bellinghiere, speaking on behalf of the entire family says there and no words to describe the loss.
"Every day is hard and it's just one day at a time, for all of them. For all of us," she said.
Bellinghiere says that Nathan was the spitting image of his father, Jason. She says she will never forget the Monday before the accident, when her Nephew went into to her husband's dentist office.
"He gave me a big hug on his way in and out," she said. "He was so lovable."
Nathan also enjoyed nature very much, enjoying trap shooting and camping. He was a boy scout.
"He was very much so a little outdoorsman," she said.
Sunday night, more than a thousand people from Plattsmouth and Murphy came together to remember Nathan. Aunt Kathy says the family is grateful for the community's support, but it will take a long time to grieve. A memorial fund has been set up at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 365, 209 South 23rd Street, Plattsmouth, Nebraska 68048. You can also call 402-296-5257.
