Omaha, NE - Briann Allen was certain her future is bright, but what she didn't know was just how many people knew it too.
"I wasn't expecting this," she said after getting surprised at school on Thursday. "I'm really happy. I'm kind of speechless."
Briann was surprised in front of her classmates with a $76,000 scholarship to College of Saint Mary.
It's money that means more this year than ever before.
Briann's dad just lost his job in January, which left her to look for ways to pay for school.
"To be able to get a scholarship, that basically takes a weight off my shoulders, is amazing," said Briann.
She is planning to major in chemistry and hopes to get a master's degree in chemical engineering and pyrotechnics.
Briann has been accepted to a number of schools, including Creighton.
"I know I'm going to be able to go to college now, do what I want to do in my life and be a step closer to being a chemical engineer and pyrotechnican," she said.
Briann hasn't committed to a college yet, but College of Saint Mary has moved near the top of the list.
