NORFOLK, Neb. (KMTV) - A Norfolk songwriter hopes to win a $10,000 contest prize so he can donate the money to support Pilger.

Keith Volquardsen is the man behind a song called, “We’re Gonna Build Us a New Town,” which he entered in a contest by EZDrummer 2.

The song will go through a round of online voting that will narrow down the entries to just 15.

From there, a panel of judges will determine the winner.

On Friday, Volquardsen’s submission, which features footage of the twin tornadoes that tore through Pilger and photos of the damage, had more than 2,000 views.

The video ends with a a note that says, “Dedicated to the people of Pilger, Nebraska, the people that lost their lives in this tragedy and the people that are going to build a new town.”

Below are the lyrics:

"We’re Gonna Build Us A New Town"
The wind was howling like a freight train
With trees fallin’ in that driving rain
To tell the truth, I was so damn scared
We were huddled underneath those stairs
When we opened up that cellar door
It’s like nothing I’d ever seen before
Everything I ever knew was gone
Our life scattered out across that lawn

(Pre-chorus)
I cried, Daddy where we going to live
With the house blown down
He picked me up, grabbed his gloves and said Son -

(Chorus)
We’re gonna build us a New Town
We’re gonna build us a New Town
We’re gonna love a little stronger
We’re gonna hug a little longer
We’ll pull together and we’ll clear this ground
Then, we’re gonna build a New Town

(2nd. verse)
He started walking up and down the street
Tried helping everyone we’d meet
And on the curb just sitting there
Grandma was gazing with a far off stare

(Pre-chorus)
She cried, honey what we gonna do
When it’s all torn down
He grabbed her hand, pulled her up and said "Come On Momma"
We’re gonna build us a New Town
We’re gonna build us a New Town

(2nd. Chorus)
We’re gonna build it back stronger
You see Momma, we belong here
People are gonna help from miles around
We’re gonna build us a New Town, Yea

(Guitar Solo)

(Bridge)
You see
This town was never really bricks and wood
Or that pile of rubble where the old barn stood
This town was made of friends and family
Yea, this town was always really just, you and me

(3rd. Full Chorus)
And We’re gonna love a little stronger
Hug our kids a little longer
We’ll pull together and we’ll clear this ground
Then we’re gonna build a New Town
We’re gonna build it back stronger
You see Brother, we belong here
As People come to help from miles around
We’re gonna build us a New Town
We’re gonna build us a New Town
We’re gonna build us a New Town - Yea
We’re gonna build us a New Town
Grab that hammer Son,
We’re gonna build us a New Town
