Omaha, NE - Karen and Emily Reed decided they were serious about weight loss. So the mother and daughter tackled it together.
They got involved in Alegent Creighton Health Weight Management Program at Immanuel Medical Center.
Karen Reed has lost a total of 55 pounds. Her daughter, Emily, has lost 80. It's been about a year since they took part in the program, and they've kept nearly all of the weight off. Emily says it helped to have her mom along with her, "If I'm going to do this, I'm going to do this with someone I know. Somebody that's got my back and somebody that's going to support me."
The program incorporates weekly meetings with experts, prescribed exercise, as well as pre-packaged weight loss meals, bars and shakes.
After thirteen weeks of strictly eating the pre-packaged food and fruits and vegetables, people in the program learn to slowly incorporate lean proteins and other healthy foods.
They both say they're committed to living out what they learned during the program. Karen says it immediately helped in all aspects of her life, "Even an emotional success. I felt better about myself, I felt better about the way I got along with people."
