Metro Students Compete For Top Chef
Omaha, NE - It's nothing like 'Hell's Kitchen', in fact the kitchen is hardly warm at all. Saturday, a group of culinary students from Metropolitan Community college competed outdoors at the Village Pointe farmers market.
The students gathered fresh ingredients from around the farmers market and then put their talents to the test. A hungry audience of 40 anxiously waited for the dishes to be served. The students split into teams and got to work in their outdoor kitchens, creating one of a kind appetizers, entrees and desserts.
The audience, taste testing each dish, judged the food on flavor and creativity. Then, after the meals were complete, the foodies voted and the winners were announced.
It's a great honor to take home the 2013 Iron Chef competition title for the winners. When they graduate from the culinary arts program, not only will they be able to whip up a mean dish, they'll whip the competition as they do so.
