Omaha, Neb. (KMTV) - Local musicians are banding together to raise money for the children of Frank and Yvonne Pivonka. The couple died in a weekend crash in Cuming County.
Frank was a regular at open mic night at Chrome Lounge in Ralston. His wife would cheer him on every week. This Sunday, a fundraiser will be held from 2 p.m. to midnight to raise money for the seven children the Pivonkas left behind.
"This is where all his friends hung out," said organizer David Dahir. "I think we all want to be together to show our love and support for the family and do whatever we can to help the children." Dahir said so many bands have shown interest, they're considering having the fundraisers at various locations.
Frank Pivonka had been a part of many bands in the metro over the years. He was working on a cover band project when he died.
The couple had gone to a concert in West Point Saturday night and never returned home. On Monday morning, deputies found their crashed SUV in wooded property. Police say the Pivonka were not wearing their seat belts, and both were thrown from the SUV.
The Pivonkas had another passion - auto mechanics. Frank was a talented mechanic and had just started working on a friend's car the weekend he died. You'll hear from their friends and coworkers coming up tonight on KM TV Action 3 News at 10.
