How The Government Shutdown Will Hurt Nebraska
CREATED Oct. 1, 2013
Lincoln, NE - The partial federal government shutdown will force Farm Service Agencies in Nebraska to close.
National parks, including the Homestead National Monument of America in Beatrice are also closed now.
Before the shutdown, monument superintendent Mark Engler said several school groups were notified that the park might have to close on scheduled visiting days.
More than 500 fourth-graders had planned to visit the monument this week,
Utilities and security staff will remain on site, but all other employees will have to stay home.
The shutdown could also mean service delays within Nebraska's Farm Service Agency offices.
The agency has 73 offices in Nebraska in addition to its state office.
