Lincoln, NE -- Husker fans are counting down! There are just nine days until football season starts.
On Aug. 31, Husker football will start its 90th season at Memorial Stadium, and it'll kick off in some new digs now that the expansion is complete.
The project came with a price tag of nearly $64 million.
It has elevated the height of the stadium's east side and added 6,000 seats, which will increase attendance to more than 91,000 people.
In addition, there are new suites and a club level.
Two of the major additions are The Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior, also known as CB3, and a performance lab.
This is where several areas of brain science will be studied and applied to student athletes.
School officials said these two will revolutionize the way athletics and academics come together.
"The brain and biology center, the performance center-- the activities that will take place in this stadium are truly transformational for our academic programs," said J.B. Milliken, university president. "It will do great research and great work that will be recognized I think around the country and around the world."
While the final touches still need to be put together, the expansion will be open and ready for the first home game on Aug. 31.
The university's athletics department is also getting ready for a brand new home for Husker basketball.
Next week, there will be a ribbon cutting and open house at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
