Omaha, NE -- Its summer, and that means one thing: Construction season is in full swing.
Dozens of streets are closed, and traffic is being rerouted to accommodate all of the road repairs.
On Wednesday, the city reported there are 30 road restrictions and closures.
One of those is 144th and Blondo Streets, which is a busy intersection in West Omaha.
The work started between 141st Ave. and 144th St. in June. The city is doing utility work and reconstructing the street.
"I like Blondo because there is no traffic when I ride my bike," said homeowner Jerry Rauterkus.
Rauterkus lives on 138th Street. It's where traffic has to turn because Blondo is closed off.
"So you've got to kind of wait for your turn, so to speak, to get either down or up 138th, and that's really only in the morning or the afternoon," he said.
Adding to the mess is the fact the neighborhood is still recovering from a hail storm in the spring.
"Between the contractors, and the people trying to get through the shortcut, there's a lot of traffic through there," said Rauterkus.
Another project that started last week is on Dodge, one of the city's main thoroughfares.
Between 50th and 52nd, work on the sidewalks has started.
"I think it's slowing it down a little bit," said Lisa Schnieder, who lives a block away.
Schnieder said she is looking forward to projects in the area wrapping up.
"It's just a noisy, loud inconvenience," she said.
Action 3 News called the city to see what they had to say about the construction and got no response.
The construction on Blondo Street between 141st Ave. and 144th St., and on Dodge between 50th & 52nd Streets, is set to wrap up by September.
