Omaha, NE - An Omaha cop is on the other side of the law to help a good cause. Detective Kevin Wiese will be locked behind bars this weekend at Village Pointe Shopping Center to raise money for the Special Olympics.
At last year's "Cage a Cop" event, he raised $5,000. He hopes to do the same this year.
Detective Wiese says he got involved after hearing a story from a couple who has a child involved in the Special Olympics. "I talked to a family when I first got involved in the law enforcement torch run, and they told me about how Special Olympics has affected their son--how he went from no self esteem, no friends and really no purpose to having tons of friends, he has a job and he is succeeding."
You can donate at the Village Pointe Shopping Center this weekend. He is stationed near Scooters.
