Omaha, NE - Six days after Louise Sollowin was brutally attacked and raped in her "little Italy" home, friends and family say goodbye.
Saturday, Sollowin was laid to rest; her funeral service was held at Saint Francis Cabrini church.
The 93 year old died in a hospital bed on July 24, three days after her attack. Family members say Sollowin was a healthy woman with many years left to live. They describe her death as sudden and unjust. "My aunt was a real nice lady, everybody liked her, she was old-school, a very nice woman," says nephew Don Bonfiglio. He didn't want to talk about her attack, he said the family is looking on the bright side of things right now, the funeral brought everyone together.
City prosecutors charged 19-year-old Sergio Martinez-Perez with first degree murder for the attack. If convicted, Perez could spend life in prison or face the death penalty. Perez will have a preliminary hearing on August 12.
