UPDATE: Bad Crash on I-80 Near Gretna Shuts Down Interstate During Husker Game

Gretna, NE - A bad accident shut down the west bound lanes on Interstate 80 and closed one east bound lane near Gretna late Saturday.
Sarpy County dispatch tells Action 3 News the accident involved a 2003 Acura RSX and two semi trucks. Witnesses tell police, the driver of the Acura was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center grass median and hit two semis in the westbound lanes. The crash caused one semi to cross the median, cross the eastbound lane of I-80 and roll onto the shoulder. The semi driver was not injured; his passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported Alegent- Creighton Medical center.
The second semi was damaged so badly it could not be driven away; the driver of that semi was not injured.
Sheriff Deputies say the driver of the Acura, Benjamin Behlen of Columbus, NE, died at the scene.
It's unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, the investigation continues. The south metro crash response team and the Nebraska state patrol are conducting the investigation.
The westbound lanes of I-80 were closed for one hour while the scene was worked on. Authorities did not have the accident cleaned by the end of the Husker's first home game. A traffic jam could be seen for miles.
