It’s day two of the US Senior Open and the event is not just for adults. A lot of kids are at the tournament learning about and enjoying the sport.
“Lots of kids here, I think Omaha is a great hotbed for golf,” said The Managing Director of Communications for the USGA, Joe Goode.
Over the past few days golf's next generation have come to check out some of golf's most recognizable faces.
While the next generation of Michelle Wies and Rory McIlroys pick-up some pointers at the Omaha Country Club, the youth golf scene is actually on the decline.
“Over the last decade or so the industry has seen participation rates at the junior level drop as much as 30 percent which is troubling us,” said Goode.
But the USGA has made it their goal to bring golf back.
“We’re focused on making the game more accessible and more enjoyable for our young people so we can build a whole new generation of golf fans and players,” said Goode.
