Omaha, NE -- Stolen cars turn up in a storage unit and police are searching for the suspect. It all started with a 2006 Acura RSX being stolen at gunpoint from Oak View Mall on June 18th after it was posted on Craigslist. Just two days later, police found the vehicle with others being stripped for parts. Now, 19-year-old Felipe Molina Junior is wanted in connection with the “Chop Shop”.
Police located the “Chop Shop” at the L Street Self Storage near 69th & L St. in June where a number of men were stripping parts. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Felipe Molina Junior of Omaha.
Court documents say police found a total of 5 vehicles in two storage units, and 3 outdoor units. Parts were disassembled, some altered, and VINs were being changed. One vehicle was identified as the Acura stolen at gunpoint from Oak View Mall. Three others were confirmed stolen from Omaha, and Sarpy County. The vehicles were either Hondas or Acuras, and all were taken to OPD’s impound lot. Investigators say only one vehicle was stolen at gunpoint.
Matt Einarsson had his 1998 Acura Integra stolen from his apartment complex in December. He searched and offered a reward for the Integra, but later gave up on finding it. It was found at the storage facility being stripped.
"I actually really didn't think it would go to a chop shop,” Einarsson explained. "Whatever's left of it probably isn't a whole lot but at least I don't have to keep wondering about it. It's probably at least every couple of days I'll think about it."
Felipe Molina Junior is wanted on 3 felony counts of Receiving Stolen Property. It's unclear how many other vehicles may have been stripped at this chop shop for parts before police busted them. The suspect is still at large.
