Boy bitten by dog: "I thought I was going to die"
Omaha, NE- 10 year old Konnor Diesen says he was so scared Saturday when a dog bit him, he thought he was going to die.
"I really thought I was going to die. I just wanted to. That's how bad of the pain I was in," he said.
Konnor was running to the pool Saturday at the Fairway Apartments near 99th and T plaza. The boxer-pit bull mix got away from its owner and bit him.
Konnor's mother, a former ER nurse, says he has 24 puncture wounds on his hip and butt. The dog also bit his lip. Konnor's mom says the wounds are serious.
"Possibility of infection in any of these punctures. He had fatty tissue hanging out of a couple of the punctures, He had muscle tissue hanging out of a couple of punctures," Lynette Diesen said.
The Humane Society says they deemed the dog potentially dangerous. City ordinance requires the dog owner to now harness and muzzle the dog when off property. They also have to spay and micro chip it. The owner also has to take owner responsibility and dog obedience class and take out 100,000 dollars in liability insurance. The owner was also cited for improper restraint. If the dog is found running loose, its owner will lose the dog.
As for Konnor, mom says he's on a heavy dose antibiotics and pain medication. He says he still loves dogs, but is a little scared of them.
