Bank of the West Celebrates America Concert

Omaha, NE - Preparations are underway for Friday night's Bank of the West Celebrates America concert at Memorial Park.

To ease traffic in the area the following streets will be treated as one-ways starting Friday at 8:00 a.m. 

North of Underwood Avenue to Western Avenue from Happy Hollow to 66th Street

From Western Avenue north to Hamilton Street from 54th to 58th

The stage will be located on the Dodge street side of the park.

Memorial Park opens at 5:00 a.m. Friday for anyone who wants to put a blanket down and save their spot. The city of Omaha prohibits the placement of plastic tarps or stakes in the ground.

Organizers of the event are also encouraging concert-goers to carpool. UNO will allow people attending to use its parking facilities after 4:00 p.m. Friday.

Memorial Park is at 60th & Dodge. The concert starts at 6:00 p.m. It should wrap up around 10:00 p.m. and will be followed by a fireworks finale.

The 23rd Bank of the West Celebrates America concert features Pat Benatar, Neil Giraldo and Loverboy. As many as 50,000 people attend the free concert.

Bank of the West has partnered again this year with Food Bank for the Heartland, which has been feeding the hungry in the Midlands for more than 30 years.

At this year's concert, there are plenty of options to donate:

-Text FOOD to 501501: You will be able to text a $5 donation to support the Food Bank

-Purchase commemorative Bank of the West Celebrates America plush bears for $5 from volunteers circulating throughout the park

-Food and beverages will be available for sale in the park-a portion of the proceeds will go to the Food Bank
