Benefit Held for Family of Woman Killed in Crash
Omaha, NE - Friends held a benefit Monday night to raise money for the family of Jennifer Siemens and to help her boyfriend Ryan Ashburn.
Omaha police say Jefferson Potter stole a lawn care truck and then crashed into several vehicles and a building earlier this month at the intersection of Saddle Creek and Leavenworth. Prosecutors charged him with manslaughter.
He's accused of hitting the car Siemens and Ashburn were in. Siemens died in the crash.
The benefit was held at the Hideout on 72nd Street. The benefit organizer, Marlowe Mapes said, "It's been amazing the way the community has come together. We have comics and poets and musicians and dancers, a silent auction, raffle, food--it's pretty much everything you can think of."
