Omaha, NE- Reports of damage came in from across the metro Monday. North Omaha and those farther West saw a lot of damage during the storm.
KMTV Action 3 News Meteorologist Jim Flowers says the storm formed in West Omaha. Radar showed what looked like a small blimp at 168th and Center. By the time the storm passed Epply Airfield, 70 mph streamline winds were recorded.
It left extensive damage with winds and heavy rain.
Some of the worst damage our crews saw out West was at 136th and Walnut. A tall tree snapped in the west Omaha neighborhood.
Public works crews say this is one of the many pockets they've been working out today.
At 166th and center, near where Jim says this storm started to take shape, Jill Lassek has some tree damage and that her patio furniture went flying.
"I was out running errands got a text from my son saying all of our furniture had blown completely off to the side. A bunch of branches off our trees I'm the backyard had blown completely off to the side," Lassek said.
Elsewhere across West Omaha, Heavy streamline winds and rains took many by surprise this morning. At 90th and Maple traffic lights were out this morning as drivers traveled wet roads. The rain made them slick.
At 120th and Pacific more heavy rain fell, creating some big puddles in some places. Our photographer said that he had to pull over at one point because visibility was so poor; he couldn't see more than two feet in front of him.
