Omaha, NE -- On Friday, CWS fans will descend on TD Ameritrade. On Thursday night, it was all about the Old Market.
Whether they've been coming for years or this is the first time, fans are starting to show up.
"It's my first time," said Bob Carskadon, a Mississippi State Fan. "I think for a lot of people, it's probably their first time. For a lot of people from Starkville, Mississippi, it's the first time to Omaha. We're having a good time."
The excitement downtown is impossible to miss.
At practice today, LSU signed baseballs for some of their smallest fans.
Sal Brocato is from New Orleans. He's an LSU fan and happens to be in town because his son is playing in the Slumpbuster Baseball Tournament.
"This is a great opportunity for kids to be able to meet these guys," said Brocato. "They are their heroes, the guys they look up to and emulate."
NC State even made a cameo through Old Market on their beach cruisers.
Each team has a street named after them and a fan base.
A base that will no doubt be out in full force over the next two weeks.
"We are a small college, and we like big ball," said Randy Sprick, an Oregon State Fan. "We like to play division one and Pat Casey. We love him, and he does a great job for us."
As the CWS gets underway, the Downtown Improvement District encourages locals to go downtown.
The district said the majority of activity is on the north side of downtown.
There's plenty of parking in the Old Market and other areas.
