Mother Nature Dampens Big Downtown Weekend

Omaha, NE -- A big weekend in Omaha is being washed away by Mother Nature.
Summer Arts Festival, Santa Lucia Festival and the Farmers Market are all taking place this weekend.
While many fought through traffic and inched along for parking Friday night, Saturday's wet weather may have put a damper on all the fun.
"It's cold for June," said Candace Krahling, who went to the Farmers Market & Summer Arts Festival. "It's not that fun."
For art vendor Jeff Kuhns, the weather proved to be quite the challenge.
"I'm drying off my pots," said Kuhns. "I don't use a tent so every time it rains, I have to dump all the water out and dry everything off."
The wet weather even kept things quiet at the Santa Lucia Festival. On Lewis and Clark Landing, the food was hot and the rides were spinning. The only thing missing was a crowd.
Tents, umbrellas and hoods could be seen for blocks.
While most people stayed home, some were willing to brave the rain.
"I guess it doesn't bother me that much," said Krista Krahling, who attended events with her sister-in-law. "When it was pouring rain, we just took shelter and got some candy. We still get to enjoy the day."
For now, all scheduled events are going on as planned.
Santa Lucia Festival organizers said the parade and mass have been rescheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
