Percival, IA - It's a site many would like to forget after the Missouri swallowed towns in 2011. In Percival Iowa, the water came in two years ago and it's creeping back into town.
The flood gate in Percival closed on Wednesday. Before the gate closed, many fields were flooded. Now, water is sitting around with nowhere to drain. It surrounds the new levees and some worry more water is on the way.
"We don't know what's going to happen, we have to see how the water's going to get out from the inland area to the river," says Fremont County emergency management Mike Crecelius.
Two years ago Percival was evacuated, Crecelius doesn't expect to evacuate the town again and says even though some fields are flooded, and he doesn't expect a repeat of 2011.
The river is half a foot above flood stage in Percival. Emergency management will continue to monitor the river and levees.
